SUMMER COCKTAILS WITH CLAIRE MCMILLAN & GILDED AGE

Simon and Schuster talks favorite SUMMER COCKTAILS with author Claire McMillan, whose protagonist Ellie must navigate the treacherous social terrain where old money meets new: charitable benefits and tequila body shots, inherited diamonds and viper-bite lip piercings, country house weekends and sexting.”

Haven’t we all been there? No, not really. And that’s precisely why you MUST read GILDED AGE.

What’s your favorite summer cocktail? Reblog & we’ll add your drink of choice to a roundup, to be posted here later!

Lillet & Soda

“3 parts Lillet to 1 part soda over ice with a twist of lime. Fyi: an orange wedge is traditional, but I prefer lime.”

Gin & Tonic

“A quintessential Cleveland WASP summer cocktail would be a gin & tonic but you MUST decant an inexpensive gin into your Bombay Sapphire bottle. Yes, I actually know a few people who do this. Serve with Schwepp’s tonic, if you don’t skimp on the tonic, no one knows the difference (is the thinking).”

Plain Champagne

“But I think one should drink Champagne while reading GILDED AGE - preferably vintage French if the pocketbook allows. There’s a lot of Champagne in the book.”
